Lochte Apologize For Not Been Careful In Rio,Describe Situation As 'Traumatic'


Lotche has apologize for not "been more careful and candid"the U.S Olympic medalist made an apology statement today.when explaining what happened in Rio during an alleged gunpoint robbery last weekend.

"I want to apologize for my behavior last weekend for not being more careful and candid on how I described the event that happened that early morning and for my role in taking the focus away from the many athletes fulfilling their dreams in participating in the olympic,"he said in a statement posted on social media."I wanted to share these thought until it was confirmed that the legal situation have been addressed and that my teammates would be arriving home safely."

Lotche alongside his fellow teammates were robbed in a taxi early that morning when returning back to the Olympic village in the Brazilian sea side city.

Lotche told reporter on Wednesday that the swimmers had used a restroom at a gas station and when they got back to their taxi,the driver didn't move.that was when two men approached us with guns and badges and told them to get down,lotche added.

But Rio civil police chiefs Fernando veloso said the four U.S swimmers were not robbed.

One or more U.S Olympian swimmers vandalized a bathroom at the gas station after they left a party at the early morning of Sunday.the athlete broke mirrors and damaged other things,police said.

The athlete refused to stay,but security asked the taxi not to leave and someone came to intervene between the athlete and the guard,police said.

Police added that witnesses are afraid to talk to the police because of the possibility of retaliation from the high profiled foreign athlete that were involved.

There was no evidence of violent against the athlete,police said.

On Thursday, some police officers suggested that the athlete faces charges of false crime.

In his apologetics statement today Lotche described the incident as "traumatic"
"It's traumatic to go out with your friends in a foreign land with language barrier and ha email a stranger point gun at you and demanded for money to let you leave;but regardless of the behaviour of anyone else that night I should be the one to be responsible on how I handled myself and for that am sorry to my teammate,my fans,my fellow competitor,my sponsors and the host of this great event."Lotche said in  statement.

He also acknowledge that this was a situation that "could have been and should have avoided."

"I accept responsibility for my role in this happening and have learned some valuable lessons"he said.

Lotche,Bentz and Conger have all returned to U.S,but feigen remain still in Brazil.

The U.S olympic committee on Thursday night apologized to Brazil for the "distracting ordeal".
