  2016 Porsche Panamera unveiled  ahead of UK deliveries in November.   The new Panamera is a car that, Porsche says, has been “redeveloped and realigned down to the last detail” in a renewed challenge to luxury rivals, such as the soon-to-be-replaced Audi A8 , latest BMW 7 Series and newly updated Maserati Quattroporte.   The initial line-up comprises three four-wheel drive models: the £88,700 Panamera 4S, £91,788 Panamera 4S Diesel and £113,075 Panamera Turbo.    The new Panamera is based on the second incarnation of Porsche’s MSB (or modular standard architecture) platform. It contributes to a reduction in weight through thethe use of aluminium for the main structure as well as the bonnet, wings, roof and tailgate.   Although Porsche hasn’t specified the Panamera’s kerb weight, a claimed power-to-weight ratio for the Panamera Turbo of 3.6kg per 1PS (Pferdstärke, equivalent to 0.986bhp) would suggest that it tips the scales at 1980kg, which is 10kg more than the outgoing

Toyota Mirai    Review The Toyota Mirai is one of the first hydrogen fuel cell cars to go on sale in the UK. The name means ‘future’ in Japanese, and it’s part of the car maker’s plan to forge ahead with making alternative fuels available as soon as possible. In this case it’s hydrogen, which has the huge benefit of being made available in pressurised form at a fuel station just like petrol or diesel. That means that even though the Mirai is powered by an electric motor, you top it up in a few minutes like a normal car – and it has a similar range, too, of around 300 miles.The fuel cell itself generates electricity by mixing hydrogen with oxygen, storing it in a battery and powering the motor just like any other Toyota hybrid. That means the only emission from the tailpipe is pure water. The 2015 model year BMW i8 has a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that delivers an all-electric range of 37 km (23 mi) under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Under the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cycle, the range in EV mode is 24 km (15 mi) with a small amount of gasoline consumption. The design is heavily influenced by the BMW M1 Hommage Concept (which is itself, a retro concept of the original M1).The BMW i8 can go from 0–100 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
